Cherepovets (population 317 000) is located on the Sheksna River, where it flows into Rybinskoe Vodochranilishe, at its north end. The City is located approximately 389 km north of Moscow (565 km or 11 hours by rail). It can also be reached from Moscow via Highway M8, then Highway A114.
